This marks the first bout of wrestling predictions done for Yuppa and I am really excited for this weekend's TakeOver show. NXT is the WWE's developmental brand which has quickly grown into one of the most loved wrestling promotions by itself and is considered a very different and superior show to its main roster counterparts of RAW and SmackDown Live. Even with the lack of NXT's Lead Colour Commentator in Mauro Ranallo this looks like another show for the ages. With an absolutely stacked match card this TakeOver show looks set to overshadow the main roster show 'Money In The Bank'.
So let us begin:
Velveteen Dream vs Ricochet
This is such an interesting concept for a match. The 29-year old indie darling and 15-year veteran of the industry versus the young 22-year old upstart who has only been wrestling since 2014 and has been moulded in the typical WWE image. They have told a very simple story of one having to scratch and claw their way through the indie circuit, whereas the other went straight to the WWE within a year. Also, the constant one-upmanship between the two has been thoroughly entertaining and I hope it will carry over into their bout in Chicago Saturday Night.
Winner: Ricochet
NXT Tag Team Championship Match:
Undisputed Era (c) vs Oney Lorcan & Danny Birch
The team with all the gold are going into TakeOver with a load of momentum. However, having said that they also have a load of enemies too with them not only feuding with Lorcan & Birch but also WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne and his British Strong Style teammates Tyler Bate and Trent Seven who I think will more than likely get involved in this match and possibly causing a distraction or possibly a disqualification.
Winner: The Undisputed Era
NXT Women's Championship:
Shayna Baszler (c) vs Nikki Cross
This is an interesting match. The dominant Baszler has slotted into her role as the brands biggest female heel beautifully and comes across as a huge bully. Although it would have been nice to have seen Dakota Kai get her moment of redemption, it is a great concept to see a crazy person such as Nikki Cross stand up to the former MMA fighter and make her really uncomfortable. This a more heart over head choice with this one but I think a title run for Nikki is long overdue.
Winner: Nikki Cross
NXT Championship::
Aleister Black (c) vs Lars Sullivan
This is probably the weakest match on the card but having said that I still expect it to be a very interesting match. It has the simple Little Guy vs Big Guy concept with the NXT Champion looking quite vulnerable the past few weeks. Having said that I think that Aleister Black will walk out of TakeOver: Chicago the same way as he walked in. As the NXT Champion.
Winner: Aleister Black
Chicago Street Fight
Tomaso Ciampa vs Johnny Garganno
Easily going to be the star attraction this evening on TakeOver. Just like at April's TakeOver: New Orleans in their Unsanctioned match which gained a 5 Star rating from the Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer and I have no doubt it will do so again this evening. This is easily the best story WWE has done since John Cena vs CM Punk in 2011 and in my opinion is better. The destruction of DIY! and the whole story circling back around to Chicago one year later has been just an amazing story told by these two competitors. The likelihood is that Garganno will finally put away Ciampa for good probably with the assistance of his wife Candice LeRae. I hope to then see him move on towards the NXT Championship before renewing this rivalry again.
Winner: Johnny Garganno
