Hello and welcome to our featured poetry page!

This is a page dedicated to the works of poets outside the immediate writing team of Yuppa, and are, therefore, featured.

You can have your poetry featured here too! All you have to do is email a submission to yuppadotcom@gmail.com, and it will be displayed on the site. You can even choose to be anonymous - whatever suits!

But without much further ado, here are the poems:

Grey - Anonymous

Sometimes,

A word perhaps,

slips

or none.

Other times,

A step, no,

run escapes,

or sedentary I stay

I'll pour

my heart

or a shrug

I'll perform instead

My life

A checkerboard

of even tiles

black and white

Yet,

others

do flourish

on their boards

Boards

cracked and uneven

and yet

perfect.

Tick - Caitlin Falconer

Tick tick tick
The sound of a clock
I sat there gasping for air

Tap tap tap
The sound of fingers on a table
I rocked back and forth
My hands pulling on my hair

Stomp stomp stomp
The sound of someone walking
My legs felt like jelly
I kept saying this isn't fair

My heart beat harder
My breath became shorter
My arms began to shake
My mind began to panic

I sat there
Tears rolling down my face
I couldn't move
I felt paralysed

Tick tick tick
The sound of a bomb
I watched it
Waiting for it to explode with me

Thinking with every breath
Breathing with every tick
I sat there waiting

Tick tick ti-

Small Times at Nine - Adam Cooper

It’s the music; the lazy midnight waltz.

Rivers have drowned the fairies in my mind.

Thunder scared the monster beneath my eyes.

That one might find this to worry, I know.

I say, the elements simply be words.

Mourn the songs of forgotten fairytales,

Truly, they whisper life through my own ears,

So that I may whisper life back anew.

Yet, despite such, the songs must be forgotten;

Kept safe, sacred but never to be played,

Not to be sung but to be reminisced.

Sometimes a hum, even with the known risk.

But one may not forget those blessed chimes.

Remember always, our small times at nine.

The Voice - Caitlin Falconer

7 billion people on this planet,
Yet you feel alone,
7 billion smiles on this earth,
But you've yet to find someone with one.

All your life you've been searching,
Searching for something new,
You feel like you're always digging,
Just digging for the truth.

I'm not going to lie to you,
Life isn't a easy ride,
There is always one thing,
Like a little voice in your mind.

It tells you what to think,
It tells you what's not ok,
It makes you stress and overthink,
Makes you regret every day.

Feel self conscious?
Feel depressed?
Feel anxious?
That's the little voice in your head

Feel like you're just not worth it?
Feel like there's just no point?
Feel like the world's against you?
You're to scared to turn off the voice

You think it's telling the truth,
You think it knows everything,
You think it's your brain,
You think it's better to just end everything.

It's not,
Don't give in,
Don't let the little voice win,
Just turn it off,
Ask for help,
Let us take you off this shelf,
Join the people who help you smile,
You can do it,
Just finish this mile,
Don't bring the world sorrow,
Just, Be Here Tomorrow
