I'm an NYCI Changemaker

I'm a 5'7'' unassuming 18-year-old. I'm from Co. Meath (although born in Co. Tipperary - you can't take Tipp out of the girl, baiss).

Youth work and writing are my passions. I started my journey into activism in 2015 by joining Meath Comhairle na n'Óg, and from there I never stopped. I got involved with the work of the National Youth Council of Ireland (NYCI), Spunout.ie, EIL Ireland, and the Irish Second-Level Students' Union (ISSU).

As for writing, it has been the love of my life since I could hold a pen. For years, I kept journals of crudely written articles, diary entries, short stories, and such, just desperate for an

My work spreads somewhat far and wide:

I am serving as Officer of Welfare and Equality for the Irish Second-Level Students' Union (ISSU)
I'm currently a journalist and a youth ambassador for feminist website Shona.ie
I've done some other stuff too, but this is a biography, not a CV!

Despite these successes, my greatest achievement is getting an A in Junior Cert English.

As mentioned, I started Yuppa to give myself and many others a creative outlet. A place to empower other young people, a place to find out more about yourself and other things, and a place to begin. Yuppa is a blank sheet of paper. I will always ensure that Yuppa is an outlet for young voices to self-express. That's my role here. It will always be my role here.

In terms of who I am personally, here are a few facts:

-I'm originally from Co. Tipperary (#Tipp4Sam) but I moved to Meath in 2013. Living in Meath is nothing to be ashamed of, okay?

-In the dark, lonely hours of the night, I binge watch vine compilations (FREESHAVOCADOO, anyone?), watch the scariest crime documentaries on Netflix and then listen to the Beatles to make my night a touch more wholesome.

-I have also been known to rant about feminism, the importance of Shakespeare, and Broadway musicals.

-I'm a former vegetarian, and will still abstain from eating meat for ethical/environmental reasons.

-My favourite song is Keane's 'Nothing In My Way'. I am of the belief that you can tell a lot about a person from their favourite song, and so I wonder what you can take from that fact.

I'm deathly allergic to nuts. (Head out of the gutter, please).
